Courses and Levels
Information about our range of courses, course structure and level assessment.
We offer Portuguese courses for foreign learners at all levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. Our range includes intensive, semi-intensive and extensive courses, available both face-to-face and online. We also offer complementary cultural programmes and preparation for the CIPLE, DEPLE, DIPLE, DAPLE and DUPLE exams.
During enrolment, all students take a free placement test, which consists of a written section. This process ensures that each student is placed in the group best suited to their level of language proficiency, maximising the effectiveness of their learning.
The duration varies depending on the format chosen. On intensive courses (20 hours per week), each level lasts approximately 4 to 6 weeks. On semi-intensive courses (10 hours per week), each level lasts 8 to 12 weeks. Extensive courses are spread out over a longer period and are tailored to the student’s pace throughout the academic year.
Applications and Admissions

Enrolment is done exclusively online via the form available on the Student Enrolment page. You must fill in your personal details, specify the course and the format you wish to attend, and submit the necessary documentation. Once our team has verified your details, you will receive a confirmation email setting out the next steps, including instructions for the placement test.
Our general courses are aimed at adults aged 16 and over. No specific academic qualifications are required for most courses. For preparation programmes for official Instituto Camões exams, we recommend that students have already consolidated the level immediately preceding the one they wish to study. There is no maximum age limit — we believe that learning is a continuous, lifelong process.
